How to Arrive in Aswan


Aswan, located in the heart of southern Egypt along the majestic Nile River, is a destination rich in history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty. Below, you’ll find essential travel information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey to Aswan for The Way of Water gathering.

 
1. Arriving by Air ✈️
The fastest and most convenient way to reach Aswan is by flying into Aswan International Airport (ASW).

International Arrivals
If you're flying from abroad, you will first land in Cairo International Airport (CAI), Egypt’s main international hub.
From Cairo, you can take a domestic flight to Aswan (approximately 1.5 hours).
Airlines operating this route include EgyptAir and Nile Air, with multiple daily flights.

For budget-conscious travelers from Europe, consider checking flights to Sphinx International Airport (SPX) in Cairo. This airport serves as a hub for several budget airlines and can offer significantly lower fares compared to Cairo International Airport (CAI). From Sphinx Airport, you can take a domestic flight to Aswan (ASW) or explore train and bus options for a more scenic journey.

Domestic Arrivals
If you're traveling from another city in Egypt (such as Luxor, Hurghada, or Sharm El-Sheikh), check for available domestic flights to Aswan.
Tip: Book your flight early, as prices can increase closer to departure!

 
2. Arriving by Train 
For a scenic and cost-effective option, you can travel to Aswan by train from Cairo or Luxor.

Cairo to Aswan: The sleeper train is a comfortable overnight option with beds and meals included. The journey takes 12–14 hours.
Luxor to Aswan: A shorter trip of 3–4 hours with first- and second-class seating options.

 Tip: The sleeper train requires advance booking. You can purchase tickets through Watania Sleeping Trains or at major railway stations in Egypt

Weaving of the Waters will be held at a regeneration and temple community NGO reviving local and ancient heritage in Aswan. This is a unique community project reviving local and ancient heritage. The sacred land is being transformed into a temple village devoted to healing, co-creation and land regeneration. Once you arrive in Aswan Airport, we will arrange for a driver to pick you up for an additional cost of €10 to take you to the port where you will then be transported by a short boat ride to the island.
